Focus Workshop Series - Kohiki in Depth, April 25-26, 2023, 2pm-5pm EDT (U.S.)

$225.00

I will spend two days demonstrating and explaining my stretched brushmark Kohiki style. We will also explore traditional Kohiki or Korean Punch'ong sagi, Hakeme brushed white slip, and Mishima, or stamped, white slip.

I will cover how to glaze all of these traditional Kohiki styles, as well as how to make and apply Kohiki slip. We will also delve into staining, glazing and firing Satake style Kohiki.

This workshop will be beneficial for all levels of experience (as well as individuals who have previously taken my three-day Zoom workshop or five-day live workshop), as I will demonstrate how to make many different types of forms -- sculptural pieces, pitchers, cups, bowls, and vases, including my "origami" vase. There will also be a demonstration of Satake style stretched Kohiki on the wheel.

I look forward to an in depth sharing and exploration of the world of Kohiki style pottery with you!

Each session will run for three hours with a short intermission. Students are invited to submit questions on the Zoom Chat feature which will be answered during the session.

We ask that you not hold group viewings of this workshop. Class size and enrollment fees are based on the number of individual students participating and not meant to include multiple viewers.

A few days after the workshop ends, we will share a link to enable students to view a recording of the entire workshop. The video will be available for one month and will not be downloadable. In order to be able to view the recording, students must have a Google account (gmail address). If you need to set up a gmail address for this purpose, please be sure to let us know the address by the end of the workshop so that we can send you the link.

Open to all levels of experience.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Workshop fee: $225.

To cancel the workshop and receive a refund, notify us at least 7 days before the start date of your workshop. If we are given the required 7 day notice we will refund your payment, minus a $50 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 7 days before the start of the workshop.
