November 14-15, 2023, 1pm-4pm EST (U.S.)

I am pleased to announce the launch of our second Two-Day Online Focus Workshop, which will be dedicated to Kurinuki in Depth!

During this workshop I will spend two days demonstrating and explaining my Kurinuki style.  Kurinuki means “to dig out”— it is a great way to bring out the sculptural aspect of your ceramic works. I will be teaching a variety of methods to create dynamic shapes and surface textures in hand built pieces, and then showing how to carve out the insides after the pieces have been formed. I will also be demonstrating my original “Mille-Feuille” style of layering thin clay slices and then cutting with a wire to create naturalistic surfaces.

No previous ceramic experience is required to attend, however this workshop will be especially beneficial for individuals who have previously taken my three-day Zoom workshop or five-day live workshop, as I will demonstrate how to make many different types of forms — sculptural pieces, boxes, vases, sake bottles (Tokkuri) and tea bowls (Chawan).

I look forward to an in depth sharing and exploration of the world of Kurinuki style pottery with you!

Each session will run for three hours with a short intermission. Students are invited to submit questions on the Zoom Chat feature which will be answered during the session.

A few days after the workshop ends, I will share a link to enable students to view a recording of the entire workshop. The video will be available for one month.

We ask that you not hold group viewings of this workshop. Class size and enrollment fees are based on the number of individual students participating and not meant to include multiple viewers.

Open to all levels of experience.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Workshop fee: $225.

To cancel the workshop and receive a refund, notify us at least 7 days before the start date of your workshop. If we are given the required 7 day notice we will refund your payment, minus a $50 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 7 days before the start of the workshop.
